Placental Localization by Arteriography

چکیده
At the present time the only certain method of diagnosing placenta praevia in 3 pregnant woman who has had an ante-partum haemorrhage is by examination under anaesthesia. The examination is usually deferred until the 38th week of pregnancy) when the foetus is considered to be sufficiently mature should premature delivery have to be effected. The procedure is traumatic and may induce labour with or without further haemorrhage. The patient may have presented herself with ante-partum haemorrhage some 4 ?f more weeks before this time, and many such patients are at present occupying antenatal beds in major obstetric units. The prolonged period of hospital stay is often a cause of considerable domestic difficulty and at the end of that time no placenta praevia may be found and the patient is discharged to await the onset of norms' labour.

Diagnosis of haemobilia by duodenoscopy.
A case of haemobilia due to liver abscess presenting as haematemesis and melaena is described. Duodenoscopy in the acute phase can distinguish haemobilia from other causes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding and is the first step towards accurate localization of the lesion by hepatic arteriography.
متن کاملColour flow Doppler: An emerging alternative to conventional arteriography for arterial mapping in peripheral arterial occlusive disease
Background: Arteriography has been considered the “Gold Standard” for the investigation of Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD). The development of Colour flow Doppler (CFD) has extended the scope of non-invasive assessment of chronic lower limb arterial disease. Aims: To evaluate and correlate the findings of CFD with arteriography as the gold standard, in PAOD of the lower extremities...

متن کاملPeripheral vascular disease: diagnosis and treatment.
Peripheral vascular disease is a manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis that leads to significant narrowing of arteries distal to the arch of the aorta. The most common symptom of peripheral vascular disease is intermittent claudication. At other times, peripheral vascular disease leads to acute or critical limb ischemia. Intermittent claudication manifests as pain in the muscles of the legs...
متن کاملTechnical Considerations of Tc-99m Labeled Red Blood Cell Scans in the Detection and Localization of Gastrointestinal Bleeding Sites
Arteriography to detect gastrointestinal bleeding, which is often intennittent, is only likely to yield diagnostically useful infonnation if the patient is actively bleeding at a rate of greater than 1.0 cclmin at the time of the procedure. To avoid the unnecessary morbidity of a negative arteriogram we studied Tc-99m in vitro labeled red blood cell (RBC) scintigraphy as a screening test for ar...
